No better way to start the 2024 racing season with a dubble win at the great Dutch AMCA Apeldoorn racing circuit!
Due to the sale of Shepherd Micro Racing we ended up with a new reality, ZEN Racing as owner of the Shepherd product line. Since then a lot has changed and we together managed to further improve this racing platform.
Jesse Keller and Luigi Pili won the Dutch 8th scale masters in both classes! Well done guy’s!
Jesse had the following to report:
After some testing and some help/tips from Lars Hoppe (thanks Lars!) before this weekend we already had a decent car on Saturday. We needed a bit more steering and in the end we managed to get that.
Sunday started, and the first qualifier didn't go so well, the glow plug came loose and I lost all power because of this. Then we had to wait because the timing computer crashed, due to this we only had 2 qualifiers instead of 3. So only one quali left, luckily we managed to make it to the 2nd spot overall in this one.
Finals were a bit chaotic for myself, decided to take some flying lessons with the car after a fatal mistake.
Luigi’s report:
Last week we went there for training and found a decent setup to start with on saturday. We made some slight changes over the course of the day and at the end of the day the car felt amazing to drive.
On sunday the engine stalled on the straight in Q1 and due to some technical problems with the track's timing system the day was shortened and we had only one qualifying session left. The car felt very responsive and fast and we managed a pole position for the main final.
We managed a consistent run and after several laps and a pit-stop we were back in second place. At halftime, 15 minutes left, we got to first place and were getting comfortably ahead of the field. We ended up finishing 3 laps ahead of the pack to win the race!
The car is very easy to drive and with some setup tweaks it becomes even easier and faster. We are happy with our first win with Shepherd!
